CONVERSION FROM INCHES TO CENTIMETERS
The inch or inch (English: inch) is a unit of length that is particularly encountered in the English-speaking world, i.e. mainly in the United States, England and Canada . Today, international standardization sets the length of an inch at exactly 25.4 millimeters, or 2.54 centimeters, 19 inches in cm. The standard official symbol for inches is the two letters "in", but in common usage the term is often abbreviated with double quotes. Sometimes, due to the widespread use of the unit of length in the United States, the term " inches " often extends to Europe. Significant examples are electronic components, such as specifying the size of a screen.
Examples: 27 inches in cm or 48 inches in cm
Since both terms have been adequately standardized in their respective systems of units, the ratio of inches to centimeters is always the same. In this regard, in 1956 one inch was set at 0.0254 meters worldwide. This means that one inch equals 2.54 centimeters . To convert from inches to centimeters it is therefore necessary to multiply the value in inches by 2.54 and the result will be the same length in centimeters. To convert from centimeters to inches, divide the centimeter value by the number 2.54 to get the length in inches. As an example, 10 inches equals 25.4 centimeters, while 10 centimeters are exactly 3.937007874015748 inches.
In common parlance, inches are not only used as a unit of length, but also appear in countless clichés. So, with "I don't trust somebody an inch", you mean that you don't trust someone. "To not yield an inch" expresses that you do not want to yield. Also, "to shorten by an inch" is used to formulate that something is shortened by an inch. "Give somebody an inch, and he will take a mile" is synonymous with "whoever you give the finger to, he will take your whole arm". In addition, the thumb is often used to express that you have missed the target by a small amount or that you are gradually approaching a certain condition or place. The expression "by a fraction of an inch" translates to "per un hair".
